Downsized Columbia House Staff Didn’t Realize Columbia House Was Still Around

The Columbia House Record Club, which has been offering steeply discounted music and movies since 1955, closed its doors in Canada on December 11th, due to bankruptcy. The closure came as a total surprise to the entire country, as no one realized the company was still in business. None were more surprised than the staff of Columbia House, who were stunned to learn that they were still under the employ of the failed company. Said graphic designer Jeff Betts: “I don’t think any of us has even been in the office for four years. Strange.” Betts then looked at the defunct company’s website, and found that he was still listed on the staff page. “Columbia House. Man. Those were some fun, steeply discounted times.”
