Steve Jobs: No New iPhone, Ever.
Steve Jobs dropped a bomb on the entire tech industry today when he announced, in a response to a question about the rumoured delays of the upcoming iPhone 5, that the iPhone 4 is the last version of the Apple’s iconic smartphone that will ever be released.
Mary Jenkowicz, a 32-year old florist and Apple enthusiast in Vancouver, BC, e-mailed Apple CEO Steve Jobs early this week, with a question about whether or not the iPhone 5 would be delayed, as some pundits have been reporting:

Subject: iPhone 5 Delays?
Mr. Jobs,
Hi! First of all, I'm a huge fan of your work, and all of Apple's products. I love them. My iPhone is the greatest ever! So good.
I've heard a bunch of rumours that the iPhone 5 won't be out this summer. Is this true? I hope not, one of the best parts of the summer for me is camping out to get the new iPhone, and then shoving it in the face of all my friends who don't have it yet. I'm also excited about the possibilities of NFC, which I hear will be in the new phone.
Is the iPhone 5 being delayed? If it isn’t, then great! If it is, I think I might just buy a second iPad 2, but I don’t want to buy another iPad 2 right now if the iPhone 5 is coming out in a couple months.
Help?
Kisses and petals,
Mary
“I know he’s so busy, so I didn’t expect him to reply, even though I hoped he would. But a couple days after I sent him the e-mail, he replied! It was, like, the greatest day ever for me.”
Mr. Jobs’ e-mail responses tend to be curt, even cryptic, and his response to Mary was no exception:

We're not making an iPhone 5. Ever.

Mary immediately replied to Steve’s e-mail, asking why there wasn’t going to be an iPhone 5. Remarkably, he answered again, this time within minutes:

We don't need to; the iPhone 4 is perfect. It's without flaw, without peer, and nobody will be able to make a better phone than this, ever. It's immaculate.
We all will age and die, but the iPhone 4 is forever.

We reached out to Apple for a comment on this, but have yet to receive a response.
